Difficulty in opening mouth and pain

I am 23 year old and i am finding it difficult to open my mouth wide open and there is also pain whenever i try to do so. I can feel a protruding tooth at the very back of my upper mouth cavity. Is it wisdom tooth? And is it a painful procedure if have to get it removed?
