Hello. Hard stool feeling structurally stuck at the lower end of the rectum that fails to pass on its own indicates a clinical condition known as fecal impaction. While oral osmotic laxatives like Lexapeg are highly effective, they work progressively by pulling water into the colon and can take anywhere from 12 to 24 hours to clear a hard mechanical blockage. When the stool mass is completely compacted at the exit, a localized, immediate softening approach is necessary to avoid severe mucosal straining or painful rectal tears (fissures).
Next Steps
Immediate Tactical Measures: Suppository Technical Timing: If you attempt another glycerine suppository, ensure you remain completely lying down on your side for at least 15 to 20 minutes after insertion to give the medication adequate time to completely melt and lubricate the impacted stool mass. Squatting Posture Adjustment: While attempting to pass stool, sit on the toilet with your feet clearly elevated on a small footstool. This modifies the puborectalis muscle alignment and straightens the anorectal angle, facilitating easier passage. Hydration Spike: Sip 2 to 3 glasses of warm water consecutively to stimulate the gastrocolic reflex.
Health Tips
When to Seek Direct Medical Help: Please strictly avoid straining aggressively, as it can trigger rectal bleeding or severe hemorrhoidal swelling. If the stool remains completely untreatable after 24 hours, or if you develop severe lower abdominal pain, continuous vomiting, or painful bloating, please visit a clinic nearby immediately. A local physical examination or a quick medical enema administration will resolve it instantly. For a structured stool-softener prescription, systematic dietary fiber charting, or direct emergency guidance, you can book a consultation via my profile or reach out directly on WhatsApp at: six three six nine four six zero five seven seven.

Hard stool stuck at the rectum end is called fecal impaction and needs a step-wise approach. First, try 2 glycerine suppositories together (not just 1) — insert, hold for 10-15 minutes before attempting to pass. While waiting, drink 2-3 glasses of warm water. A warm water enema using a home enema kit can also help soften and dislodge the impacted stool. Sit on the toilet with feet raised on a small footstool (squatting position) to straighten the rectal angle — this helps significantly. Lexapeg works more slowly as an osmotic laxative and may take a few hours — do not give up on it yet. If the stool still cannot pass after all of this, or if you develop abdominal pain, bloating, or nausea, visit a doctor for manual disimpaction which can be done quickly and safely in a clinic.
Next Steps
Use 2 glycerine suppositories together. Try warm water enema. Sit with feet elevated. Drink warm fluids. If no relief in 4-6 hours, visit a doctor for disimpaction. Long-term: increase dietary fibre, water intake, and daily walking. Consult me on Practo for further guidance.

Based on your symptoms, it sounds like a hard stool is stuck in the rectum (fecal impaction). Glycerin suppository and one dose of laxative may not be enough. What you can do: 1. Try a warm saline or sodium phosphate enema (if there is no kidney disease, heart failure, or severe dehydration). This often helps soften and expel impacted stool. 2. If available, a micro-enema (e.g., sodium citrate/sorbitol) can also be tried. 3. Continue an oral osmotic laxative such as PEG (polyethylene glycol) 17–34 g daily (or lactulose 15–30 mL twice daily) for the next few days to prevent recurrence. 4. Drink plenty of fluids and avoid excessive straining. 5. If the stool still does not pass after the enema, you may need manual disimpaction by a healthcare professional. Please seek urgent medical attention immediately if you develop severe abdominal pain, vomiting, abdominal distension, fever, rectal bleeding, or are unable to pass gas, as these could suggest bowel obstruction or another serious problem. Thank you

From your description, this appears to be fecal impaction, where a hard stool becomes lodged in the rectum and is difficult to pass. Since a glycerin suppository and a single dose of Laxipeg have not provided relief, you may require a higher dose or a repeat dose of an osmotic laxative under your treating doctor’s guidance. Maintain adequate hydration and avoid excessive straining. If you develop severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, abdominal distension, or are unable to pass stool or gas, seek urgent medical attention.
