A month of morning exhaustion, neck-shoulder-joint pain, energy crashes and brief palpitations in a 41-year-old woman most often turns out to be one of four things: hypothyroidism, iron-deficiency anaemia (heavy periods are a common cause),
vitamin D and
B12 deficiency, or early perimenopausal hormonal change - and
diabetes must be excluded too. This is not something to keep managing with rest and multivitamins; it needs blood tests, because each of these has a different treatment.
Next Steps
Get CBC,
ferritin,
TSH,
vitamin D,
B12, fasting
sugar/
HbA1c,
creatinine and an ECG done. Sleep 7-8 hours, protein with every meal and 20 minutes of walking even on low-energy days. Share the reports with me on a Practo consult and we will treat the actual deficiency instead of guessing. If the palpitations come with chest pain, fainting or breathlessness at rest, get an ECG the same day.
