Hello,
Thank you for sharing your concerns. While amitriptyline can cause certain side effects, the fact that you last took it in February makes it less likely that the current symptoms are direct side effects of the medication. Instead, your symptoms- especially disturbed sleep, low mood, lack of focus, and suicidal thoughts- suggest an ongoing or worsening depressive or anxiety disorder which needs urgent attention.
Symptoms like leg pain, muscle jerks, or heaviness in the eye may also be due to a neurological or musculoskeletal cause and should be clinically evaluated.
Next Steps
1. Seek immediate consultation with a psychiatrist for re-evaluation and treatment of low mood and suicidal thoughts. These symptoms can improve significantly with the right support.
2. Do not ignore suicidal thoughts. If they worsen, visit the nearest emergency department or talk to someone you trust immediately.
3. Neurological symptoms (jerks, eye heaviness, leg pain) should be evaluated by a neurologist if they persist.
4. Avoid self-diagnosing or attributing everything to a past medicine. A thorough assessment is necessary.
Health Tips
Recovery is possible with the right help. Don’t delay reaching out. Keep a symptom journal and avoid overexertion if it worsens your symptoms. Reach out to a mental health helpline in your area if you're in crisis.
First of all medication dose, duration should be mentioned. Whether the medication is causing these side effects or these are symptoms of Depression or Adjustment Disorder can be commented only after detailed assessment and evaluation. Other comorbity as HTN, DM other also should be assessed to rule out organic cause for such conditions, so I will advise you to plan a visit with the psychiatrist with all medical records for holistic management
Next Steps
should discuss in detail with the doctor
Health Tips
do not conclude only on the basis of net information , discuss your queries with specialist
Hi,
The symptoms seem to be independent of the side effects of Amitriptyline. It is advisable to undergo proper Psychiatric evaluation and decide on further management.
Hello, I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this. While Amitriptyline side effects usually subside after stopping the medicine, if symptoms are persisting for months, other causes need to be evaluated. Low mood, sleep issues, and physical discomfort can also be part of an underlying condition. I suggest consulting in detail to assess this and plan proper management.
Next Steps
do a consultation
Health Tips
look for symptoms of sad mood, suicidal thought, if persists, seek consultation immediately
