Allergy testing by blood tests are a scam! Allergy is a hypersensitivity reaction exhibited by your immune system. When you draw blood out of your body, you are Separating it from your immune system.
So, the GOLD STANDARD is Prick/Patch testing. This should always be done by a trained Allergy Technician. Here a drop of allergen is placed over your skin and a small prick(more likely just a scratch) made underneath the drop by a lancet. This allows your immune system sample the allergen. If your immune system is sensitised to that allergen, you develop a flare( a red swelling akin to that you see from an insect bite). The diameter of this glare is proportional to the severity of your allergy.
Usually about 40 such allergens are tested in 1 sitting and the results are noted in a chart.
