Dear User He needs to see a psychiatrist who specialises in deaddiction services too. Many patients taking substance are not motivated to leave the substance. We are adept at managing such patients. Even if he is not ready to leave alcohol by MET he may be motivated to do so. So instead of telling him to leave alcohol its important that he just consults the psychiatrist to start a therapy to increase his motivation to leave. It's important to respect his wishes and take him on board for any treatment. So a step by step approach is needed.

Hello, the concerns that you have shared regarding your father's alcohol use is definitely a cause of worry. Alcohol use in long term can lead to multiple physical, psychological and neurological problems. Even if your father is not showing direct motivation to quit, it would be worthwhile to take him for a consultation with a psychiatrist who has experience with substance abuse related disorders. Motivational interview will help him gain insight and motivation. Hope this helps you..

hi, i feel he is worried and anxious about something. he is tensed. you should ease himself and ask him to eat well, till he is willing to go to a psychologist. Try and convince him to go to a psychologist where there are no medicines involved as he might want to go then.
Next Steps
give him water to drink and small portions of food in short intervals. he needs to gain weight.
