Alcohol addiction
I started drinking daily and my limit is awesome..i want to stop craving in evening..i have strong will power to stop but not to control that craving now.. which doctor to consult in such cases to suggest medicine. Google told me to consult with psychiatrist but they talks too much unecessary (councelling) ;) do they know medicines??any other department?? can i take Naltrexone (Trexan) and acamprosate (Campral) without consultation??

Hello sir. Psychiatrists only can treat your addiction because they are addiction specialist.  And they are doctors (MBBS, MD)  so of course, they know medicine. Taking medicines without consultation will only cause harm.

U seem to be having Alcohol dependence syndrome, but still needs further evaluation.. Addictions are medically treated by Psychiatrists and they are well versed with the treatment... Psychiatrists may refer u to psychologists for psychotherapy mainly Motivation enhancement therapy which will help u further..

Basically psychiatrist only prescribe you the drugs for de addiction seek consultation don’t self medicate
