Talk to experienced psychiatrist online and get your health questions answered in just 5 minutes.
Hello, I can understand your distress.
Such a behaviour in her age group could indicate possible brain condition. If the behavioral change has been abrupt and sudden, there is a strong possiblity of dementia problem. Depression, psychosis , personality changes are common problems at this age.
There is a need to investigate further.
A brain MRI scan can yield valuable information.
A detailed psychiatric workup is needed.
Next Steps
My strong suggestion to you is to show her to nearby psychiatrist. With suitable medications her behavioral problems can be controlled. There may not be much a role of counseling at this age.

Hi Sir
Thanks for seeking help here.
As you described sir....this can be the neuropsychiatric manifestation of mood disorders than dementia.
The behaviour disturbance in dementia are not acute.... except some rare type....
She needs active management, without a doubt.
Visit to NIMHANS , Bangalore. Or any tertiary centre .....near to your place...
Aging and memory issues do cause irritable behavior. Don't argue or challenge her thoughts and expression. Make her calm, reassure about her demands and be cooperative. Don't respond or hurt by her abusive words. She doesn't meant it, it's just her aging and frustration compel her to behave in certain way. Be supportive and understanding rather than critical.
Next Steps
if symptoms persist then take professional help from Psychiatrist or clinical Psychologist.
