Hello Current weight (7.6 kg) shows good growth from birth (3.4 kg). This is the right time to start complementary (solid) feeds, along with continued breastfeeding/formula. Start with: Soft, mashed, or pureed foods 1–2 teaspoons once or twice a day, slowly increasing quantity Examples: Rice water, dal water, mashed banana, suji kheer, ragi porridge, mashed potato, apple puree
Next Steps
Start with 1 meal/day, increase gradually to 2–3 meals + 1 snack by 8 months. Continue breastfeeding on demand No salt, sugar, honey, or cow’s milk before 1 year Introduce one new food every 3–5 days Watch for allergies or tummy upset Use clean hands, bowls, and spoons Encourage baby to sit during feeding

Baby’s weight gain has been good. Breast milk on its own may not be sufficient to provide enough calories after 6 months of age and so you can supplement with other foods after this age You can carry on with breast feeds till 2 years of age but shifting to cow milk is not advisable for this age. A formula milk is a better alternative But a milk based cereal can be prepared in cow milk and given. You can prepare it with rice or go for a good commercial preparation too. Mashed banana with milk, ragi in milk, kheer are also options - go as per the family tradition. Only point to remember is the consistency of food - it should be mashed/ pureed / strained - good enough so that the baby can swallow easily. Offer with a cup and spoon. Begin at least once daily and slowly increase to twice a day There is no particular sequence to type of food to be offered - cereals, vegetables/ fruits and then slowly even egg/ chicken/ meats - depending on family culture. Khitchri/ porridge/ kheer. Fruit puree/ mashed vegetables and a variety of foods including curd and even cheese! Some proteins can be allergenic like wheat, cow milk, soy, nuts, egg - so introduce them 1-2 month later in a spaced manner with a gap of at least 5 days between any 2 of them

Birth weight doubles by 5 months of age so the baby's growth is on the right track. That said babies need to be started on solid foods once they are 6 months old. Please follow the diet prescribed by your pediatrician
