Ache in Heel
My mother has been feeling some pain in her left foot heel since the last couple of weeks. When she stretches her foot, there is slight pain at the bottom of the heel. When she initially gets up, again there is a slight pain. But once she walks she feels better. For now she gives rest by elevating her feet or walking for small duration. Because of Covid I do not wish to expose her, but would like to take necessary precautions. Please help with suggestions. Should I take her to visit the doctor?

This pain may be due to local inflammation of soft tissue towards the base of heel, a condition called Plantar fasciitis..
Next Steps
She can start with hot fomentation of heel region, start with ankle movement exercises, specially before placing foot on ground in morning, use soft sole footwear at all times, take analgesic with anti inflammatory medicine,  apply analgesic ointment locally for pain relief. If her pain persists, she can also start with physiotherapy..
Health Tips
Avoid placing heel directly on floor without any footwear..
