About urgency of upper molar ectraction
My Father had pain for three days back which subsided with ibuprofen 400mg two doses only He has completed three day augmentin 625mg antibiotic course He used to have such kind of pain intermittantly for 2-3 days past two years and once was accompanied by swelling too With xray done with local doctor showed there is infection reaching till the base of roots of teeth Same doc suggested Extraction of the same tooth as it is beyond saving according to them My question is How long can we postpone extraction ? Can Postponing extraction might have further advancement of diease process or any complications like granuloma or osteitis ? He has HTN in control on t/t with bisoprolol 2.5mg and aspirin75mg with rosuastatin And angioplasty done 8 years back No thyroid no diabetes

Hi... The medications will only give him temporary relief every now and then. It’s better to get the treatment as soon as possible because if there is an infection already it will keep deteriorating and will make him uncomfortable. As you have mentioned his hypertension is in control so that won’t be a problem and about aspirin in consultation with his physician and considering his dosage that won’t also be a problem. Let your dentist know about his medical history well and you are good to go for the treatment.

Pain is a symptom. It gets relieved wth medicines. But the real problem is the infection inside the tooth. For that extraction is the treatment as suggested by your dentist based on clinical and radiographic examination. Postponing treatment means he will end up getting more pain and the infection also would worsen causing more issues. As long as his general health permits him to, it's best not to delay the extraction procedure. Please inform your dentist about aspirin being taken.
