Our mother, (51 yrs) is a patient of Rheumatoid Arthritis since 25 yrs. We visited various doctors at various places but everyone told that knee replacement was the only option. She visited Bangalore in 2016 and the pain was so high that we had to go for the surgery. Though she was in considerable pain, she was willing to prolong it for the sake of rumours heard as many People warned us of the difficulties of the recovery period, after the surgery that there was going to be enormous pain and unless prescribed exercises are not done stringently, the whole expensive surgery would be a waste, that there is a chance that she'll lose the very functioning of her legs. These were more or less why my mom kept postponing the surgery indefinitely and endured the existing pain.
As we were not aware about the doctors here, so we used Practo, where we got to know about Dr Balasubramanyam who had 100% votes. So, we visited him and felt that in the current world where most of them see patients as customers and medical field as a business opportunity, he was the one who checked all the previous reports and also inquired about each and every problem she had. Dr. Balasubramanyam is someone who you can trust with full of confidence.
After visiting him we also visited few other hospitals like Fortis, Apollo, Hosmat where we didn't get that confidence and trust which was build with Dr Balasubramanyam. So, finally we decided for the surgery on 21st December 2016. In our first visit itself, we were given 100% assurance of successful result if it was operated and given grace time for the operating payments. Even the price for the operation costed less comparatively to any other multi specialty hospital in Bangalore. Within a week's of time the operation was conducted and the result was amazingly unexpected. As she had arthritis on both legs, she had to undergo both the knee surgery at a time *** ** ****** *** ****** *** **** ********* ******** ******* I have never seen my mother walking in perfect posture but that was seen after the operation. Also about the service and care, the hospital staffs are very co-operative. They are always ready to help. Although the hospital looks small, but the rooms are big enough in size and has all the facilities along with one attendant's bed. The room and the washroom are so neat and clean that you will not get a feeling that you are staying in a hospital.
I am very happy to declare that the surgery was a very successful one and now she can walk freely without any problem. Dr Balasubramanyam also helped us very well with insurance coverage. Dr. Balasubramanyam has been helpful throughout and open to query's all the time. I thank him for the surgery and the recovery. I recommend any patient with knee problem can undergo knee replacement with Dr Balasubramanyam without any hesitation. He is the most cooperative doctor I have ever seen. More than a doctor he his very good human being he knows about situation of people very friendly nature and dynamic there is no hide and seek treatment to waist the money patience he his very strict in follow up with patients.
Also the managing director (Satish) is very nice and co-operative, even being MD of the hospital he took care of each and everything very minutely.
He ensured that every thing goes smooth.

It was tryst with my destiny that made me visit Dr. Balasubrahmanyam P R at his Susheel Orthopaedic Centre on 11th May this year. It was really a memorable meeting with a wonderful Doctor with a humanely behaviour now seldom seen in professional doctors. Before him I visited 2 best hospital in Bangalore who seems to be interested only to perform TKR without explaining the extra risk involved in simulteneous removal of an implant in my left tibia implanted 16 years ago. These two hospitals are Manipal & Sparsh Hospital in Bangalore. Their behaviour was totally mechanical and they tried to encash with higher package for TKR once they knew that I have medical insurance. Then one of my son's friend recommended Dr Balasubramanyam based on Practo evaluation by patients. We met him at his chamber at Susheel Orthopaedics. He asked for the erlier x-rays done on my knee joint. On seeing the x-ray, he said that the joint gone very bad and need to be operated soon. We told him about what the doctors of the two hospital said. But he advised for removal of the earlier implant first to minimisee the risk factor in TKR operation and to go in for TKR at a later date and prescribed some medicines..We revealed to him that we have insurance coverage but he seems not interested in that and not advised instant TKR as the other two did. However, after 3-4 days we decided to go in for TKR without first removal of erlier implant on tibia. Initially, he resisted explaining that it will increase 1 percentage point risk in surgery but seeing our urgency agreed to do the operation at Sagar Hospital as operation theater facility was good there and told us that he will get the management of the hospital no to charge more than 3 lakhs and that too with deluxe single sharing room. Whereas, the other two hospital offered package of 3.8 lakh to 4.20 lakh for twin sharing accomodation. On the penultimate day on 19th May , he operated on my left knee after first removing the implant on tibia and also removing another implant on lower right leg. The TKR operation was typically sucessful as the x-ray revealed. During my hospital days he regularly visited me and counselled me for the discomfort that I was enduring at that time. I was discharged on 24th May without any complication except some contineous pain. Physiotherapy was done upto 25th of June before I left for Bhopal. During this one month period I visited him 3 times and got due care and medical advice from him. One more thing, the hospital bill against insurance was 3.11 lakh & non medical expenses of another 11 thousand. Today is 1 month 14 days from surgery. I started waking 1.5 KM to 2 KM twice a day without any difficulty getting almost 100 bend except for some contineous low intensity pain in my operated leg. Though the period is too early, I hope to be better and better with time. Hope the pain also gone with time. It is all because of the Doctor that I am walking again. Many many thanks to the doctor for his wonderfull services. I would definitely recommend Dr Balasubrahmanyum P R for any successful knee surgery. Thanks again Doctor.
Visited For Ligament Reconstruction

I had visited Dr.Balasubramanyam for my knee injury due to an accident (fell from 2 wheeler). I had initially consulted one of the famous surgeons in Indiranagar soon after the injury. He suggested to get an MRI done in his suggested diagnostic center and was diagnosed with multiple ligament tear. I was startled to see the report that read as :1. Complete tear of ACL, 2. Complete tear of PCL, 3. Grade 1 Intrasubstance meniscus tear, 4. Grade1 to Grade 2 Horizontal meniscus tear. Doctor mentioned the injury to be very severe and was asked to undergo a major surgery after 10 days and surgery being the only option. I was skeptical on this diagnosis as the knee swelling was little and was able to walk slowly and cautiously. I did not want to undergo an unnecessary surgery as my knee clearly indicated that there could be something which can be done without it. This is when I came to know about Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr.Balasubramanyam. After he did a round of physical examination and looked into the MRI films and the report, straight away indicated the discrepancies between MRI image and the report inferred by diagnostic center. He boosted up the confidence in me to give a wait, for a month more and undergo physiotherapy in the meantime; post which I was asked to get 3T-MRI scan done. I could see some improvements in the knee movements post physiotherapy and the latest MRI results were surprisingly full-on contradictory to the 1st MRI, resulting as : 1. ACL is intact, 2. Near total tear of mid portion of PCL, 3. Grade 1 sprain of medial collateral ligament, 4. Grade 1 sprain of medial patellar retinaculum. Doctor suggested not to go for any surgery on immediate basis, instead give a sufficient time to the knee (a month more of observation), besides continuation of physiotherapy (self-doing). I am following his advice promptly, taking the medicines as prescribed and hoping for knee stability, devoid of surgery. I am really pleased by the way Dr.Balasubramanayam dealt my case genuinely, where a major surgery turned out to be no-surgery(or a minor one even if it is going to be based on my knee condition after a month). He patiently gave enough time to hear my case, ******** *********** giving precise suggestions for all my queries and majorly filling confidence in me to overcome the poor shape of my knee ligaments. I would definitely and only recommend Dr.Balasubramanayam without any blink for any Orthopaedic related health issues. Hope this will help out someone who is experiencing the same chaotic state which I initially was undergoing through, due to contradictory MRI reports and the urgency that few other doctors pushed for surgery.
Visited For Knee replacement
My mother, who is 64 years old, got a Knee Replacement surgery done on her left leg by Dr. Balasubramanyam in April. The process to get her prepared for it began right from January. Though she was in considerable pain, she was willing to prolong it for the sake of fulfilling certain commitments. Patients who had already undergone this surgery, their caregivers & well-wishers and other doctors had warned us of the difficulties of the recovery period, after the surgery; that there was going to be enormous pain, that the patient will remain invalid for a period of a month after the surgery, that unless prescribed exercises are not done stringently, the whole expensive surgery would be a waste, that there is a chance that she'll lose the very functioning of her legs, and other such cheerful cautions. These were more or less why my mom kept postponing the surgery indefinitely and endured the existing pain.
The first of the heartening experiences with Dr. Balasubramanyam, during our first consultation with him, was his emphasis on the exaggeration of these warnings. After an explanation of the procedure of the surgery (which I, personally, would have liked to have been more detailed), he tried to put our fears, vis-à-vis the pain, and other post-surgery anxieties aside. He had already operated on an uncle of mine, and his recovery was highly encouraging. He hardly ever complained of pain after the Replacement, and gave up on the use of a walker early on in his recuperation. Encouraged by this, my mother decided to employ Dr. Balasubramanyam's expertise.
My mother got admitted into the Fortis Hospital Nagarbhavi on the evening of April 25. Pre-surgery tests were conducted on her right from the morning on the next day. Dr. Balasubramanyam visited us that night and assured us that all the tests were positive and we were good to go for the surgery the next day.
Mom was taken into the OT at the crack of dawn on 27th April. After about three to four hours, the surgery was done and the doctor exclaimed that it went according to textbook - perfectly. My mom was conscious and conversing as usual, and she remained so even during the surgery. She did not complain of anything untoward. She was placed in the ICU that day, to be discharged into a regular ward the next.
She remained in the hospital for the next four days. She did face some difficulties during those days, which are to be expected for the nature of the surgery. But, she never complained of pain for a prolonged period. Physiotherapy sessions were done on her starting from the very next day of the surgery, which would continue, even at home, for the next 20 - 25 days. Dr. Balasubramanyam visited us almost every day during her stay in the hospital and spent long hours with us making sure everything was fine.
She was discharged on the afternoon of May 2nd. A physiotherapist, appointed by Dr. Balasubramanyam, visited us at home and advised her on the exercises she needs to do for a quick recovery. This went on for about 15-20 days and her recovery was rapid and readily apparent. She did occasionally complain of pain but it was nothing a prescribed painkiller could not subdue.
Today, 49 days after the surgery, my mom is almost back to normal and walks better than she used to, without the help of a walker, a walking stick or any kind of support. She has no pain in her left knee and expects to be able to do more with it in the near future, like walking longer distances in the park and cycling.
Dr. Balasubramanyam has been helpful throughout and open to querys all the time. I thank him for the surgery and the recovery. Also, the infrastructure in his clinic (Susheel Orthopaedic Centre) is good and his staff, which includes a receptionist, pharmacist/assistant Mr. Karthik & visiting physiotherapists (which includes Mr. Bharath who visited us at home) are kind and efficient. As such, Dr. Balasubramanyam's expertise comes with the highest of my recommendations.

I had taken my mother who is 67 yrs old for the treatment of a fracture of the left wrist ( based on the feedback/ reviews from Practo).
I'm delighted to say that we were extremely satisfied with our decision. The doctor clearly explained the treatment options which included both natural healing ( healing without any treatment intervention) and surgery. He clearly and patiently explained the pros and cons of both and definitely didn't seem like he was pushing for a surgery ( like what a patient's fear with most of the Doctors is)!!.
Ultimately we made an informed decision about going for the surgery which was executed to perfection ( as evident on the x-ray). He managed to achieve the desired result with a minimally invasive procedure ( closed reduction/keyhole surgery with K wires as opposed to open reduction and the placement of a plate).
The doctor is extremely patient, jovial, light humoured, very approachable* *** ** ****** ****** ** **** * ***** ********* ** *** *******My mother is an extremely sensitive person and usually refrains from asking her medical care provider any kind of doubts she has regarding her treatment in fear of any kind of insensitive/ indifferent responses from them. I was very happy and surprised to see her clearing all her doubts by herself and being extremely comfortable with the Doctor.By and large a very pleasing personality and an excellent Doctor, and am happy to recommend him to anybody in search of a good Orthopedist.
Also,he's attached to Sagar Hospital which also met up to our expectations.. Extremely nice and efficient staff, clean hospital with reasonable charges.
Thanks.

Visited For Lower Back Pain
Happy with: Treatment satisfactionValue for moneyDoctor friendlinessExplanation of the health issue
I would like to start by saying my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Balasubranyam.
I was suffering from disc protrusion and other disc related issues from almost 3yrs. I was having severe(almost unbearable) pain in my lower back which had progressed to left leg. Had consulted most of the famous orthopaedics.
But there was no respite. After I shifted to RR Nagar, my colleagues told me about Dr. Balasubramanyam. After reading feedback on Practo, I decided to try my luck and consult doctor.
In the first meeting itself, he made me feel very comfortable, listened to each and everything that I explained him. He was very calm and patient. Asked me to get an MRI done. Once I went with MRI scan report, he explained me in detail - what the problem was, how it can be treated/operated. But, I was reluctant to undergo surgery and decided to take second opinion from other orthos.
But, it turned out to be a fruitless effort as every other doctor I met, gave me the same opinion.
I finally decided to get operated on. Dr. Balasubramaniam and his staff at Jayashree Multispeciality Hospital, took care of everything starting from insurance to medicines. Was there at the hospital for 8 days, and all these days, the duty doctors, nurses took utmost care of me and made sure I return home with a smile on me and my family's face.
Dr. Balasubramanyam has given me a new lease of life. I would be grateful to him forever.
I had a small accident with big impact. My left leg had couple of fractures with multiple cracks (tibial bone). Over to that knee got dislocated. In night hours around 10.30, I went to Jayashree Hospital, Begur. Immediately x-ray was done and report was shared with Dr Balasubramanyam through whatsapp. Within minutes he got to know the impact and instructed the hospital authorities whats to be done. Next day, surgery was conducted & plate was implanted. During surgery, he got to know about the most week bone & nerve injury (which had resulted in footdrop). He took utmost care during recovery period. Today I am able to walk on my own & able to come out of Foot Drop also, just because of him. More to the medicines the way he give hope & healing touch – any patient will get hope in recovery. I will surely recommend anybody to him.
About the Hospital – having multiple facilities, care being taken by the staff & other duty Doctors, beyond all these at an affordable cost - thanks to the hospital also.

Writing about my complete experiences might be too lengthy for you all to read. Simply to say, in the current world where most of them see patients as customers and medical field as a business opportunity, Dr. Balasubramanyam is someone who you can trust with full of confidence. I underwent a shoulder surgery which was performed extremely well. The time lines given for recovery were perfectly met. He also helped me very well with insurance coverage. For a surgery that costed 1.5 lac, all I had to pay was less than 5K. Rest all was covered in insurance. The insurance company first said they would not cover few things he with his knowledge got it done.
Also, the knowledge he gave me about my issue was so well that when I was explaining a nurse about my problem when asked before surgery, she asked me if I am a doctor. When I said No, she was surprised to see my knowledge on that issue as she herself was not aware of those things.
Well knowledged, friendly and truthful to his profession.
