I had a wonderful treatment experience with Dr. Suraj Lunavat at Ratna Hospital & Apollo Hospital, in fact I had no clue about Ratna Hospital, I searched **** Urologist in Pune and I came across many names and I had read many reviews and impressed with Dr Suraj reviews,

I visited him in 2019 January for Circumcision & in 2021 Kidney stent removal,

Dec 2019 I visited my home town Tamil Nadu, and I had severe pain in my abdomen when I diagnosed I got to know multiple calculi in both the Kidney’s and one in Ureter which is giving pain, I have advised by the local doctor to undergo immediate Surgery for the one which is ureter,

If I was in Pune I would visited Dr Suraj, but I was in TN I Visit Apollo Chennai, where I met a Urologist who had 32 years of experience but do know how to treat his Patient, very arrogant and attitude, hence I changed the hospital to Sri Ramachandra and removed the stone from the Ureter and kept the Stent and advised me for further Surgery in the month of Jan 21, but I am not that comfortable with the hospital and their treatment,

I visited Dr Suraj on 16 Feb 21 for Stent removal, he advised me that instead of removing only stent I will remove the stone along with that he asked me to admit on 20 Feb 21 which is On my Birthday, but I didn’t even informed him about my birthday, he removed stones from both the kidney in one sitting, and kept Stent in Left Kidney, when I went for Stent removal he just removed in 1 mins with local Anesthesia,

Key points that makes him one of the few best urologists are-

1. He is polite with no attitude an extremely listener. Without interrupting you, he will first listen to your story, and he will explain multiple solution and finally he will recommend & suggest which the best.

2. He will explains the procedure in detail with a diagram that is going to be done as a part of your treatment.

3. He comforts his patients by giving a confidence that things will be fine soon and builds confidence within the patients opting for an invasive surgery. This largely helps in dissolving the anxiety about that procedure.

4. He is extremely clever and confident at his work and the treatment part that works out to be completely safe and successful.

5. He is extremely genuine and never tries to misguide his patients to go for unnecessary treatments, diagnostic reports or anything that is unwanted. He recommended Apollo Pune for my surgery even their he didn’t not asked me to do multiple test, he just recommended heart Xray due to Anesthesia,

I was having acidity like pain in stomach for which my physician suggested ultrasound, when I got it done, everything else was fine, but I came to know there are multiple stones in both kidneys and two of them are big enough (9mm and 12 mm) and they are on either side. Others were small stones (2 mm and 4 mm).

I started looking for urologist in pune and came to know about Dr. Suraj Lunavat. Checked reviews on Google as well as on Practo, so decided to consult him for both the stones.

Consulted Dr. Lunavat in Ratna hospital, and indeed, he is a gem of a person, very soft spoken, hears all our questions patiently, and then explains things using diagrams with pen and paper. He suggested getting x-ray done and stones were confirmed in that too. As the stones were still in kidney, it didn't give problem to me till now but they were big enough, so Dr. Lunavat suggested that, it is better if we get them removed otherwise if the stones come down in the ureter, the surgery will need to be done in emergency.

As there are multiple types of surgeries available for kidney stone removal, he suggested to go for RIRS as it is minimally invasive and has best stone free rate out of all the options.

He is very confident in his profession so the way he explained things to me, I was half relived already.

After few days I got CT as suggested by him to know exact location of stones and hardness of the same in both kidneys and after 2 days I got admitted in Ratna hospital for the surgery.

It took around 1.5 hours in the surgery and he did bilateral and put DJ stents in both kidneys which needed to be kept for 3 weeks. I stayed in hospital for a night and next day evening, I was discharged.

Due to stents, it was uncomfortable to pass urine for 2 days but then it was all fine. After 3 weeks, I contacted him for stent removal and that process was also done in day care procedure in Apollo hospital. During stent removal, as a small stone fragment was seen in x-ray, Dr. Lunavat decided to crush that along with stent removal. I got discharge the same day and after 2 days of stent removal, I resumed all my routine of morning walk + jogging.

After few days of stent removal, he even asked me on message on how I am doing, which is something we never expect usually.

He is excellent in his job, and his nature makes him one of the best doctors in for urological problems.

I would surely recommend Dr. Suraj Lunavat for any urology related issues.

His approach right from the starting of the consultation to the complete treatment of my URS/RIRS(kidney stone removal) was very Focused, Confident and Friendly. He was always accessible on phone calls / WhatsApp and responded with high dedication level.

He explained as to why the kidney stone issues generally occur and how he'd proceed in treating it. I, after having consulted him and seeing his confidence, made up my mind to undergo the surgery and it was completely painless. He is absolutely PERFECT in what he specializes. My experience with Dr. Suraj Lunavat is extremely satisfactory as regards his professional knowledge, surgical skills and types of sophisticated equipment he uses. Above all his human approach to patients and relatives , in explaining the status of ailments, what could be done for it during the initial consultation and also in pre operative and post operative stages.
