Dr. Ishan Shevate is a Fellowship trained Consultant Shoulder Surgeon, Knee Arthroscopy & Sports Injuries Specialist in Pune, India. He specialises in arthroscopic and open shoulder surgeries like rotator cuff repair, frozen shoulder release, shoulder instability/dislocation surgeries like Bankart’s repair, Latarjet procedure, shoulder impingement, Acromio-clavicular joint pathologies and Shoulder replacement surgeries (Hemi, Total and Reverse arthroplasties). He also specialises in Arthroscopic and open knee surgeries such as Anterior and Posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, Meniscus repair/preservation surgeries, medial and lateral collateral ligament repair, Patella/Knee cap dislocations corrective surgery, Cartilage/Chondral damage repair, high tibial osteotomy for early osteoarthritis. He completed his primary medical degree (MBBS) from the prestigious B.J Government Medical college and Sassoon general hospital, Pune. Following which he pursued his post graduation (MS) in Orthopaedics from the internationally recognised Sancheti Institute of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, Pune.He then went on to take the intercollegiate examination of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons in Great Britain and Ireland for enhancing his knowledge, understanding, experience and clinical competence with the UK standards. He was awarded with the Diploma of Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS), Edinburgh, Scotland.His fellowship training included time in Hinduja hospital, Mumbai under the guidance of one of the pioneers in shoulder and knee arthroscopy in India, Dr. Abhay Narvekar. He also took fellowship training in arthroscopy and sports medicine under the guidance of one of the most experienced surgeons in Pune, Dr. Umesh Jadhav. He undertook a 1-year certificate fellowship course in Sports Injuries from Dr. D Y Patil Hospital and Medical college, Pune. He completed the "Diploma in Sports Medicine" course awarded by FIFA to study and gain more knowledge about injuries and their management in the field of football and other sports.Over the period of these years he has dedicated his time to learn and develop skills in the field of arthroscopy and sports medicine, for treating his patients in the best possible way he can with standards at par with the western countries. He strongly believes in conservative management and physiotherapy rehabilitation for all the traumatic, post sports injury and degenerative ailments. With his expertise and skill set he has treated and helped a lot of patients to return back to their routine and sporting activities.
