Disha Eye Hospital is one of the premier and specialised ophthalmological hospitals in West Bengal. It was started by three renowned eye specialists from the NRS Medical College – Dr. Debasish Bhattacharya, Dr. Tushar Kanti Hazra, and Dr. Samar Kumar Basak. Initially, the hospital started its operation in the private premises of Dr. Debasish Bhattacharya. Disha Eye Hospital started its operation on 1st May 1997 from its Barrackpore unit. On 2nd December 1998 it started functioning from a new establishment having 20000 square feet area, and within a year they could successfully conduct eye operations on 5000 patients and serve more than 50000 patients in general. The three pioneer doctors established revolutionary eye facilities, and in September 2006 they came up with the second eye hospital at Sheoraphuly, Hooghly. Currently, there are 11 reputed eye hospitals in West Bengal under the Disha group.
