1. What symptoms are seen in vaginal infection?
The most common symptoms are vaginal itching, increased vaginal discharge with change in colour and odour, pain during urination or intercourse. In some cases, there is also vaginal bleeding or spotting.
2. What are the risk factors for vaginal infection?
Risk factors for vaginal infections are more prone in women whose immunity is low due to HIV or who are diabetic, also during menses due to hormonal changes, if on birth control pills or having unprotected sex with an unknown partner.
3. Can I have sex while I have a vaginal infection?
Some vaginal infections can be sexually transmitted and some usually do not but it is best to avoid sex till the infection goes down completely as the intercourse can be painful and can cause burning.
4. Can i douch the vagina while I have an infection?
No, one should not douche the vagina if having an infection as it will only make it worse in the long run though one might feel good for the time being the odour and pain is less but it actually upsets the natural pH balance of vagina and makes the bacterial growth more likely.
