In a follow-up consultation, Dr. Sharma outlined a plan involving a "Psychodiagnostic Evaluation" and CBT sessions, requesting payment via Google Pay or Paytm. Despite seeking clarification on the booking process and timing multiple times, she said she’ll only confirm the appointment after payment. I paid 1000 rupees via Google Pay, assuming it was the standard rate. However, the next day, Dr. Sharma informed me of significantly higher rates, which were never mentioned before. Rs 3000 for the Psychodiagnostic Evaluation, Rs 1500 for CBT sessions, and Rs 1000 for counseling. These rates were never discussed before despite me asking her multiple times. Feeling misled, I requested a refund, which she did do. Mental health professionals should never exploit their clients, especially when vulnerable. It's crucial for them to be transparent about their rates and treatment plans from the outset, ensuring clients feel respected and understood throughout the therapeutic process. Exploitative practices undermine trust and can harm the therapeutic relationship, hindering progress and well-being.
