My Medical Treatment Experience
I A.C. Dhiman, age 82 years sharing my medical treatment experience about vasculitis disease which involve inflammation of the blood vessels. The inflammation can cause the walls of the blood vessels to thicken, which reduces the width of the passageway through the vessel. If, blood flow is restricted, it can result in organ and tissue damage. There are many types of vasculitis, and most of them are rare.
Unfortunately, it was very lately diagnosed after my long suffering in spite of treatment given by many senior doctors of Roorkee, Dehradoon, Rishikesh Delhi at Max Hospital /Fortis & specialized Pushpawati Singhania Research Institute. If I tell you, I did not stop from consulting any good doctors in my reason. Until, I met Dr. S.K. Sharma M.D., PhD most experienced, highly qualified, dedicated and ex-senior professor & head of the department of medicines of AIMS.
My health was going absolutely fit & fine and I was doing my work (running group of industries) with full capacity. Suddenly, in mid July 2022, I got fever then first, took medicines from local doctor but fever did not go away. After that I contacted to known Dr. Rajesh Garg Delhi who referred to Dr. Ashok Kumar at Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj New Delhi. Consequently, he prescribed some medicines and said that it would be alright. But even after taking medicines for about 15 days the fever did not go away. Then I decided to consult other doctors, in Roorkee as well as in Dehradoon. As my hometown is Roorkee, I decided that I should get treatment from the nearby doctor/s. The disease did not seem to be getting worse so I consulted to Dr. Vinay Gupta at Roorkee, who recommended all the pathological tests like blood test, chest X-ray, abdominal ultrasound, urine test, stool test etc. After that he gave me some medicines and I got some relief but the fever did not go away at all. But fever was again persisting. Then I consulted in Himalayan Medical Institute and hospital at Dehradoon, who also given treatment but even after taking medicines from July to August, there was no relief. So again I thought of consulting a good doctor at max hospital saket Delhi. During this time, my son Pranav Dhiman, at Delhi who was very much worried and, kept discussing & consulting with some of famous doctors about my medical treatment. During this, I went for OPD consultation in Max hospital, Saket. There, a group of experienced doctors started treating me. All medical tests like blood test, urine test, stool test, liver function test, kidney function test, lungs function test again were done. After review of the medical reports these Doctors advised me to get admitted.
As per advice of consulting doctors, I was admitted and my treatment get started, all the tests were done thoroughly including blood test liver function /Lungs function/ MRI/ bone marrow etc. and started treatment but no avail and fever was still persisting & my health condition was getting worse. Gradually the strength of my body was weakening and the negative thoughts keeps on rising. After being admitted there for about 8 days, I was discharged and had to sit on a wheel chair. At that time my body's strength was completely exhausted and I was unable to move anymore. Lastly, the doctors of max hospital diagnosed me with T.B. I was advised to take medicine but I was not ready because no matter how many tests I did, T.B. had not been diagnosed. So, I took discharge from there and consulted to head of department of medicines at Pushpawati Singhania Research Institute for more opinion and he also reviewed all my tests again and finally confirmed that all my reports were fine but the fever was not subsiding so he also advised to start treatment for T.B. that time doctors quoted “we have tested everything that is written in the book but after that there is darkness”. But my conscious did not agree for this. I didn’t take medicines for T.B. disease. It's bad that I became disappointed and came back to Roorkee. I was in deep Agony to know this since; I had absolutely no symptoms for any such disease. I was unable to walk and even to do my daily activities. Then after getting tired, the thought came to my mind why not to try Ayurveda. After this thought, I found Acharya's Huge & famous hospital cum University near Roorkee which is situated in Kankhal Haridwar. There I met Acharya Bal Krishan Ji and he examined my whole body with Ayurvedic method, then he did Nadi-Nidaan too and gave me some Ayurvedic medicines. He assured & consoled me that I will be fine within few days. Ayurvedic medicines were taken for approximately 15-20 days got some relief but the fever was still persisting. I was completely disappointed, but as I mentioned, my son lives in Delhi and he kept meeting doctors about my treatment. My son has showed whatever my treatment has done till now to Dr. S.K. Sharma south extension part-I, New Delhi. He carefully reviewed all the treatments, prescribed medicines and medical reports and made my case history and told me that he had a suspicion that the disease had not been detected as particular test had not been done. So he asked my son to take the patient to him.
I clearly remember October-month of 2022, when I met Dr. S.K. Sharma in his clinic, E-18 (Basement) south extension part-I, New Delhi on 5-Oct-22. He had already made a case history about my ailment because my son had given him all the reports and prescriptions of my treatment. Then, Dr. S.K. Sharma thoroughly checked & examined me patiently spending one & half hour. He got all the tests done including C-ANCA & P-ANCA which revealed that I was suffering from vasculitis which is rare. In this disease, the blood circulation of the body seems to slow down due to which all the organs of the body start slowing down. When I found out the name of the disease for the first time, I felt that I had gone to the right doctor and I would be completely fine and cure.
As vasculitis is a set of rare diseases, encounter delays in obtaining an accurate diagnosis which can lead to substantial morbidity and leads threat to the life. But medicines prescribed by Dr. S.K. Sharma underway showing its effect within record time and ultimately fever went away and I started recovery. Now, I am cured and come to my daily routine. However, as per doctor’s advice, I am taking all due care and rest, now I am absolutely fit & fine, doing my work with full zeal & will with continued medication.
Today in materialistic era this noble profession has become commercialize but there are some noble and dedicated professionals like Dr. S.K. Sharma.
I had heard that a doctor is a form of GOD, but Doctor S.K. Sharma is not less than GOD to me.
I wish you all the good luck Dr. S.K. Sharma, great health & happiness for you and your family. May you keep blessing people like you blessed my life hats off to you.
At last Dr. S.K. Sharma has been an angel in my life whom I respect & I will be grateful for all my life along with my family members and all employees of my group of the companies.

I went to see Dr. SK Sharma for my mother's appointment. She was having uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and acid-peptic disease. I had consulted several doctors, from government hospitals and private practitioners, but my mother's health issues never resolved. Finally, after hearing about Dr. SK Sharma's precise diagnosis and treatment, I decided to take my mother for consultation from Dr. SK Sharma.
When my mother and I first met Dr. SK Sharma at his clinic, he was a very different person, which was surprising given his aura and reputation as a highly accomplished, decorated, and former HoD of the Department of Internal Medicine, AIIMS, New Delhi. He immediately put my mother at ease as he was so humble. He listened to my mother with patience and spent about an hour going over her health-related problems. He advised pertinent tests such as the HbA1C, urine test for albumin-creatinine ratio, the KFT, and estimation of vitamin D, B12, folate, and iron levels in the serum. He discussed the need and importance of these tests and explained how crucial it is to conduct these tests for the treatment, monitoring of diabetes, prevention of long-term complications, and monitoring of side effects of administered drugs. Furthermore, in order to analyse every aspect of diabetes, he advised us to wait for the next review with the suggested test results before prescribing the medications for my mother.
In the following appointment, after examining the reports, he recommended treatment for my mother's diabetes and acid peptic disease. Unlike other doctors, he took nearly an hour to discuss the treatment. He patiently asked about the side effects of drugs and looked at the blood sugar levels. Aside from medications, he stressed the need for lifestyle changes such as water intake, diet restriction, and physical exercises to my mother.
I shared my financial constraints with Dr. Sharma. After hearing this he did not charge any fee and ensured free consultations during follow-ups in the future. This was a rare experience that I noticed after having come across many private practitioners in the past. In my opinion, nothing more means to Dr. SK Sharma than the well-being and satisfaction of his patients.
It has been 9 months since when Dr. Sharma treated my mother, and she no longer complains of gastrointestinal problems, and her blood sugar levels are well controlled. I would strongly recommend Dr. SK Sharma to patients seeking consultation and advice related to internal medicine and chest diseases.

*** ** ****** ** *** *** **** *** **** ****** * **** **** **** *** nothing I can say really does justice to the man: he is incredibly intelligent, a sensitive and caring person, and a truly outstanding clinician. I consider myself quite fortunate to have met him. I've known Dr. Sharma since 2011 — in fact, I suppose I contact him for any medical issue — and I hope I'm doing him fair by remarking on his medical science knowledge and exceptional abilities as a multispecialty doctor.
Dr. Sharma's practice is to treat the entire human, rather than simply the symptoms and disease. He has treated me for extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB: pericardial effusion), kidney stones, hypertension, a lot of transitory ailments, and, most recently, COVID-19. In 2015, I learned about his extraordinary diagnostic capabilities when he diagnosed me with EPTB. Every doctor was perplexed by my loss of appetite, weight loss, constant fever, and cough, and they also declared that my chest X-ray was completely normal and my TB GeneXpert test in sputum was negative. However, Dr. Sharma's keen eyes discovered mediastinal nodes in my chest X-ray, prompting him to recommend a PET-CT scan, and I was diagnosed with moderate to severe pericardial effusion as well as cervical and mediastinal lymphadenopathy due to TB. Since that time, I have barely seen any other doctor other than Dr. Sharma. I was successfully treated for EPTB after 9 months of anti-TB therapy, as well as meticulous follow-up and monitoring were done under Dr. Sharma's supervision. Similarly, Dr. SK Sharma treated me for kidney stones and continues to counsel me on how to avoid such occurrences in the future. He recently treated me for COVID-19 as well. I don't go to any other doctors until Dr. Sharma recommends it.
He possesses some exceptional qualities that are uncommon among clinicians, particularly his current understanding of the field. Surprisingly, he keeps up with all clinical guidelines released throughout the world. His approach to establishing a diagnosis is unique; I must state that he begins to think from the point at which most clinical practitioners stop seeing patients. That's why he is constantly found busy in his clinic with a vast pile of medical documents from patients with difficult conditions. He has an uncanny ability to examine all aspects of a patient's ailment, including symptoms, physical examinations, radiography, and laboratory results.
As a result, he is the most knowledgeable about whatever laboratory tests are required to monitor the patient's disease, therapy, and follow-up. He spends a significant amount of time with each patient on each visit – sometimes 2-3 hours, frequently much longer. He is always willing to educate patients on the disease, therapy, side effects, precautions, and lifestyle changes. Dr. Sharma's exceptional ability is to identify the environmental elements related to patients' conditions, which is frequently overlooked by doctors. As a result, in addition to counseling on chronic illnesses, he counsels patients on other aspects of living a healthy life.
If the disease is beyond his expertise, he discusses the patients' conditions with the finest doctors in the country, and his referrals are just as valuable as his own consultation. He always keeps his clinic staff informed of his patient's needs, and I always get a phone call reminding me of the advice and asking me to assess how well I'm following it.
I'd want to point out that what you get from Dr. Sharma is inexpensive: an overworked general practitioner who gives you 10 minutes may be less expensive on the day, but you'll pay more in the long run: both financially and in terms of the worth of your total health.
Dr. Sharma, in my opinion, is the epitome of a family doctor. He actually cares, he is professional, and he invests in his patients' health and well-being. In today's world, that is as rare as a hen's teeth. You won't find a better doctor anywhere else.
