Wisdom tooth pian
I had lower left wisdom tooth eruption, which resulted in pain of gums at that area and painful swallowing. Is it normal to have pain while eruption? Is my wisdom teeth impacted?

Hello. The 3rd molars erupt at the age of 18-21 years. Your wisdom tooth is partially impacted/erupting. Due to which you have developed a condition called pericoronitis. Pericoronitis is pain, swelling and inflammation in the gums of that region (around the tooth). You might also experience referred pain to your throat, ear and cheeks. You are required to take an OPG (Full mouth x-ray) which will show the position and condition of the tooth. It is advised to get your 3rd molar extracted. Please consult an oral surgeon for 3rd molar extraction

It appears to be an impacted tooth. But x ray or OPG is required to see it completely. Pain and discomfort while eruption is normal, but if in x ray it shows some hinderence in its erupting pathways then you need to get it extracted. Warm saline water rinses two to three times a day. Try to maintain good oral hygiene by brushing twice a day, rinse your oral cavity rigorously whenever you eat something, use any mouthwash of your choice

Pain do occurs while eruption but if you still have pain you need a proper prescription to get relief from it. Your tooth is erupting buccally and it seems that is will not erupt completely as there is not much space distally, for more details radiograph is necessary.
