Which stool softener is safe to consume daily? I am sick of this hard stool problem. Drinking 6 litre water daily and consuming home made dal, chawal, sabji but still stool gets dry and hard every now and then. I don't think I can keep stool soft naturally anymore. I just want a some stool softener that i can rely on forever.

Hello Ma’am,
Chronic hard stool despite good water intake and homemade food can be very frustrating. Before depending on a stool softener permanently, it is important to make sure no underlying issues like low fiber intake, thyroid problems, or slow bowel movement are present.
For long-term daily use, natural and safe options are preferred:
Add more soluble fiber to your diet (oats, isabgol/psyllium husk, flax seeds, fruits like papaya, guava).
Regular exercise and fixed bowel timing help improve natural movements.
Stool softeners like lactulose-based syrups are generally considered safe for longer use, but they should be taken only after a doctor’s advice and regular monitoring.
Relying on any single medicine forever without finding the root cause is not ideal. Since your problem is persistent despite good diet and hydration, I would strongly advise a gastroenterology consultation for proper evaluation.
I hope it helps you. For proper management and treatment, you can consult me.

Add fibre and salads to ur diet
Take isabgol husk daily
And SYP looz 20 ml bed time
And chronic constipation remains as such only u can do is take laxatives every then n now to relieve constipation
Every medicine has pros and cons. Daily use of stool softner Or laxative can cause renal stones. You should add fibers in your diet. Salad can help you. Chia seeds can be beneficial to you.

I understand how frustrating this can be. For long-term use, stool softeners like lactulose syrup or PEG are considered relatively safe under medical supervision. However, before starting any daily medicine, it’s important to rule out causes like thyroid issues, low fiber intake, or medications that may cause constipation.
Next Steps
Along with medicines, ensure enough fiber from green vegetables, fruits, whole grains, regular exercise, and consistent meal timings.
