Struggling since childhood — can't play sports, understand concepts, or keep jobs
Hi everyone,
I’m a 30-year-old male, height 5'7", weight 70 kg.
Since childhood, I’ve had trouble with coordination — I can’t play sports like football, cricket, or pool properly, no matter how much I try. I’m also unable to ride a bike. I find it very hard to understand new concepts, even when I put in a lot of effort.
At work, I’ve been terminated from many jobs because I struggle to understand tasks when my seniors explain them. I often make silly mistakes. I also have difficulty speaking clearly sometimes and forget a lot too.
I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but I really want to understand why this happens and which condition it might be. What should I do?
What can help?

You describe lifelong difficulties with motor coordination, learning, attention, and memory, which have affected both academics and job performance.
The symptoms — poor coordination (can’t play sports, ride a bike), slow learning despite effort, frequent mistakes at work, speech difficulties, and forgetfulness — point toward a neurodevelopmental disorder that began in childhood and persisted into adulthood.
Such features are commonly seen in:
Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dyspraxia) – difficulty planning and executing coordinated motor movements; often appears as clumsiness and trouble with sports or fine motor tasks.
Specific Learning Disorder – persistent issues understanding new concepts despite normal effort.
ADHD (Inattentive Type) – forgetfulness, distractibility, and errors in routine work tasks.
Possible mild intellectual or processing disorder – if reasoning and comprehension are consistently below
Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dyspraxia) with possible coexisting learning or attention difficulties.
Next Steps
A neuropsychological assessment by a clinical psychologist or neurologist can confirm the diagnosis. Occupational therapy, cognitive training, and structured learning support can significantly improve daily functioning and job stability

It sounds like you’ve been challenged with coordination, learning, and focus for a long time, which can be very challenging. These difficulties may be linked to conditions such as developmental coordination disorder, ADHD, or learning and processing issues. These are not a reflection of intelligence or effort as many people with similar struggles lead successful lives once they get the right support.
A psychologist can help assess your situation and guide you toward the right support. Occupational therapy can improve coordination and daily functioning, while speech therapy can help with communication and clarity. You may find these centres across in Thane or Mumbai.
Hi,
These are possible signs of neurodevelopmental disorders. Please consult a clinical psyhcologist with a registered RCI license for further investigation of your symptoms. A proper diagnosis will help you with the correct treatment plan. All the best.
Hi,
I can sense how confusing and discouraging it must feel to face these difficulties since childhood and still not have clear answers. The symptoms you describe — trouble with coordination, learning new concepts, maintaining focus, remembering instructions, and communicating clearly — may point toward a neurodevelopmental or learning-related concern, such as Dyspraxia (Developmental Coordination Disorder), ADHD, or a Specific Learning Disability. Sometimes mild neurological or cognitive processing issues can persist into adulthood and affect daily functioning, confidence, and career stability.
Next Steps
• Please meet a clinical psychologist for a detailed neuropsychological assessment. This will help identify if there are learning, memory, attention, or coordination challenges and the degree of impact.
• Based on the evaluation, therapy can be planned — including cognitive retraining, skill-building, and occupational therapy.
• You may also consider visiting a neurologist to rule out any neurological causes.
Health Tips
• Maintain a structured daily routine.
• Use visual aids and reminders when learning new tasks.
• Be patient and kind to yourself — your struggles do not define your worth.
With the right diagnosis and supportive guidance, you can absolutely learn to manage these difficulties and lead a fulfilling life.
Hi,
It sounds like you are experiencing significant challenges with coordination, learning, memory, and communication, which may be related to an underlying neurological or developmental condition. Given the complexity and impact on your daily life, it is very important to seek a comprehensive evaluation from a healthcare professional, such as a neurologist or psychiatrist. They can perform assessments, including neuropsychological testing, to identify any specific conditions like learning disabilities, coordination disorders, or other neurological issues. Early diagnosis and targeted therapy, such as occupational therapy, speech therapy, or counseling, can greatly help improve your skills and quality of life. Donât hesitate to reach out to a medical professional for guidance and support.
Hi...Please consult a Psychiatrist if you want a medical diagnosis. It requires much more deeper understanding of the case, to make a diagnosis or even a prognosis. Please do not self diagnose or ask people casually, it creates more confusion, doubts, & stress. A typical psychiatric disorder is too complex and requires a series of psychometric/ psychiatric assessments along with the doctor's gist and professional acumen to come to a diagnosis. On a lighter note, please consider that you went all through your education and got placed in a job without being diagnosed or treated for any major mental health condition. It is not impossible but highly unlikely that you went through all that along with a major condition. There is a possibility that it is a matter of self esteem and self confidence which might have been deeply shaken, hurt, or broken due to a series of life events. This requires a purely psychological treatment and not a label.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychiatrist for a Medical Diagnosis.
Consult a Psychologist for Counselling.
CBT along with Interpersonal and Lifestyle Guidance and Counselling is required.
