What is difference between carbuncles and boils
I am a 28 year old male and I have developed a big, enlarged boil on my neck that looks like it  has pus in it. It is not a small one like a normal boil and it looks big. It is also very painful and looks disgusting. I don't know whether it is a boil or a carbuncle. How to determine it? Is there a way to treat it at home?

It is the same thing. What is the use of going into the technicality of name. It has to be treated and cannot be treated with home remedies. Donor delay otherwise it will become an abcess. Please send photos using online consult option for proper examination diagnosis and treatment

A carbuncle is a red swollen painful clusters of boils that r connected to each other under d skin. A boil or furuncle is an infection of a hair follicle with small collections of pus under d skin. Luke warm saline compress 10min three times daily is a very good home remedy along with antibiotics like trimethoprim n sulphamethoxasole combination twice daily for 7days along with analgesics n anti inflammatory medications
