What cause urethral strictures

Hi I am 36 year old male, I develop recurrent urinary tract infection. Usually every month I have an infection. I have read that recurrent infection can cause urethral strictures. Please guide me what are the causes of Urethral Strictures and what are my chances to develop it? any precautions I can take?
