Depersonalization can consist of a detachment within the self, regarding one's mind or body, or being a detached observer of oneself.
Derealization is an alteration in the perception or experience of the external world so that it seems unreal.
Depersonalization and Derealization these are the symptoms, come under or which is classified as a dissociative disorder.
Dissociative disorders (DD) are conditions that involve disruptions or breakdowns of memory, awareness, identity, or perception. People with dissociative disorders use dissociation, as a defence mechanism, pathologically and involuntarily. Some dissociative disorders are triggered by psychological trauma, but dissociative disorders such as depersonalization/derealization disorder may be preceded only by stress and anxiety, psychoactive substances, or no identifiable trigger at all.
Dissociation- the action of disconnecting or separating or the state of being disconnected.
Sometimes anxiety is the cause of dissociative disorder ,
its comes under Neurotic (Anxiety) and stress related disorder in International Classification of behavioural and Mental Disorders- ICD 10
Person wants to detached from anxiety and sometimes it will not possible without Depersonalization and Derealisation, it’s a adaptive state by individual to release anxiety also called defence mechanism (Neurotic defence mechanism ) in Psychology
