The drugs administered through the vaginal route  do get absorbed but in a limited way . A very small amount is absorbed because vaginal mucosa is not as good an absorptive surface as the mouth or rectum. So drugs administered vaginally act on vagina and few nearby surrounding structures.

Medicine I.e. content of the drug gets absorbed by vaginal mucosa. It acts on peri vaginal region. Amount if it to enter in blood stream is very less, after passing mucosa barrier Regards Dr.Prajakta Mahajan Fertiflix Women's Clinic Pune
