Urinary retention
I am a female 46 years old having urinary retention issues. It was on and off for a year but usually goes away on its own when all of a sudden i couldnt void at all and i had to get catheterized. The first time after catheterization, i changed my diet started exercising and was fine for sometime and it happened again. This is affecting my life completely. Im otherwise healthy with blood test shows no issues with kidneys or diabetes etc. I have border line cholestrol. Is there any doctor here who is knowledgeable in female retention issue and why it is happening to me all of a sudden? I would like to talk to a doctor who can patiently answer me and not jump into prescribing a medicine. I would like to know is there any life style changes i could make or exercise to get rid of this problem. Please help.

Need more details to opine properly. Such off and on occurrences without any deteriorating progression over a year point more towards a functional abnormality at the neck of bladder. A Urinating Cystogram, a Sonographic picture with comment upon residual volume of urine and urine exam reports would help in discussing the probabilities and then further management.
