I have been facing a sudden sting / burn on my upper spine. This happens randomly and lasts for few seconds. I am not exactly sure why this is so. Is it because of some nerve stretch or other underlying problem.

This must be muscle spasm and this must be because of some trigger point inside your muscle. This is not a serious issue and will improve with time and stretching exercises.
