Uneven Skin Tone
Hi Doctor. I had a fairly even skin tone as a child and now have grown darker on my arms and face over the years as I have grown older. I could see the tan or dead skin over my arms that is clearly visible over the wheatish skin. I have tried home remedies for a while and even though it has helped a bit, the problem still remains of uneven tone.

There are many reasons why your skin would turn dark. Sun tan, overweight, pigmentation disorders like acanthosis or melasma, nutritional deficiency etc are some conditions. Unless someone examines you, we cannot know the cause. Unless we find out the cause it is difficult and pointless to treat. Please call me or send photos with detailed history using online consult option for proper treatment.,

Outdoor activities make our skin tan. The only option is to wear protective full sleeves clothing and cover as much as possible. Usage of a cap or hat and umbrella is encouraged. Skin already tanned can be treated with de-pigmenting creams and other oral medications. A good skin care regimen comprises 4 steps - cleansing, toning, moisturizing and sun block. Based on your skin type, a dermatologist will recommend you appropriate products.
