Hi Sir/Madam,
Here I am attaching my abdomen report. Last 3years I have been facing a little bit of swelling beside the belly button. Nowadays, I am facing a little bit of pain in the stomach beside the belly button. So I consulted my Gynecologist she told me to get an abdominal scan, which found that small umbilical hernia of 1cm.
My doctor said that I need surgery to remove 1 cm hernia. So my doubt is, hernia is only 1cm present, so should I go for surgery? If yes, can we delay this surgery, or is there any possibility to use medicines for this hernia? Please reply to my question. Do I need compulsory surgery to remove the hernia else what is the second option?

Hello
First we need to understand what hernia is!!
Imagine your tummy like a cloth bag, and the muscles are like the stitching on that bag. If the stitching near the belly button becomes weak, something from inside can start to push out like a small bulge. That’s what we call a hernia. Just like a torn stitch in a bag doesn’t get fixed with medicine—you need to sew it—similarly, a hernia needs surgery to fix the weak spot.
That 1cm hernia mentioned means the defect in your abdominal muscle is 1cm and your abdominal content is pushing through it.
Medicines can’t repair the muscle weakness. Surgery is the only way to fix it properly. It’s a small and safe operation, and there’s nothing to be scared of.
It’s not an emergency surgery but you should get it done as soon as possible as over the time that defect can increase in size, just like the small tear in a cloth. If you don’t stitch it on time and keep using the cloth, the tear keeps getting bigger.

Health Tips
Avoid things that increase pressure on your tummy—like coughing, constipation, or lifting heavy objects. If you’re overweight, try to reduce some weight, as that will help reduce the strain on the hernia and prevent it from getting worse.

Hello Dear
You need surgery for sure , But it’s not an emergency surgery and you can plan elective. The defect does not cure with medicine . As days goes on the defect size will be definitely increase and may be lead to complication like strangulation of contents which land you in emergency . Avoid weight lifting and things which increases your abdominal pressure and if your are obese , try weight loss . Hope your doubts cleared
