Divarication of recti & umbilical hernia
I am 4 months postpartum and have developed Diastasis recti along with umbilical hernia after normal delivery .  Divarication is quite large along the entire length and I still look like 5-6 months pregnant. The size of the hernia is 4 cm. Can only the hernia be repaired with mesh without treating divarication by abdominoplasty? Is it possible to get the hernia repaired by laparoscopy and then follow exercise and diet routine for healing diastasis? Is there urgency to get it operated immediately or there is possibility to delay?

Hello, if you have more weight gain after pregnancy then the diverication of recti can happen. Diverication is treated with some lifestyle modification as well as diet modification As a surgeon I would recommend to lose your access wait first and then go for surgery which includes mesh hernioplasty and that could be possible with laparoscopy and it would be more effective. As I am a laparoscopic surgeon I would prefer laparoscopy

As the defect is 4cm better to go for open procedure than laproscopic as in open we can even do component separation for divarcation of rectii Since ur 4mnths postpartum better to wait Meanwhile use abdominal binder for support
Next Steps
