Typhoid in pregnancy
I am 8 weeks pregnant. 2 days back i had 100 degrees fever and blood test report shows that I have typhoid fever (Widal test) and pus cells are 9-10. For pus cell, i already take cefixime for 5 days but there is no improvement. After that, doctor recommended me augmentin 650 mg thrice a day for 7 days. Is it safe during pregnancy as it is category B medicine. Also, i want to know if typhoid can cause birth defects in babies?

Widal test can be positive, it's titre that is important. Augmentin is safe. Typhoid doesn't cause birth defects in babies

Typhoid doesn't cause any birthdefects in baby. Augmentin can be used . Avoided in last weeks of pregnancy. If your urine routine has that much of pus cells better get a urine culture done.
