Hello, thank you for consulting on practo. I believe you are asking about melacare cream which contains hydroquinone ,mometasone and tretinoin.Hydroquinone is bleaching agent whereas mometasone is a steroid and tretinoin a retinoid. Such combinations should not be used specially without supervision as they can cause various side effects and lead to long term skin damage. There are various treatment options which can help you lighten your skin tone two to three shades lighter which is a realistic aim rather than aiming for 'fairness'. You can start with a good broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF above 30 ,PA +++ and preferably which also protects against IR rays.Reapply it every 3 hourly. Along with it various treatment modalities for this purpose include creams containing kojic acid, arbutin, glycolic acid, glutathione etc.,chemical peels and lasers. Treatment is always customized according to patient and depends on various factors like skin type, depth of pigmentation etc. You can consult online for detailed treatment plan.
