Flat head/positional plagiocephaly-Common in infants who sleep mostly on their backs. Usually positional and improves with time as the baby starts sitting and crawling. Not harmful to brain development. Usually improves by 12–18 months with simple techniques.
Underweight: Use WHO growth chart to confirm weight-for-age percentile.
Next Steps
Encourage tummy time several times a day when the baby is awake and supervised.
Change the baby’s head position during sleep (turn head to alternate sides).
Increase upright time (carrying, babywearing).
Limit prolonged time in car seats, swings, or rockers.
Helmet therapy is not needed unless severe and persistent after 9–10 months.
Ensure breastfeeding continues frequently.
Introduce nutrient-dense complementary foods:
Mashed banana, egg yolk, ghee in khichdi, mashed potato, ragi porridge with milk.
Add 1–2 teaspoons of oil or ghee in food daily.
Feed 3–4 times solid meals + 1–2 snacks/day by now.
Gradually increase portion size and frequency.
