Absolutely not ! This is the biggest myth about Psychiatrists that all they do is give medicine . There are many mental health issues which need medicine but so many others can be well managed without medicine with therapy session commonly known as counseling. It also depends on severity level of the problem
Next Steps

Dear user, It is a common belief that psychiatrist always prescribe drugs which isnt the case always. The medicines are decided on case to case basis and with patient consent. If you feel you dont require medicine you can discuss it with your psychiatrist and explore other options. All in all medicines arent compulsory.
Next Steps
Consult a psychiatrist amd ask for alternative options like Psychotherapy, behavioural modifications etc.
