Tooth transplant
Hi Sir I want more information related to tooth transplant for my father. We are searching right doctor/hospital for this. He stays in Kolhapur but we are ready to travel to Mumbai for better treatment. He has lost all his incisors (lower side) & canines. If I get some consultation regarding this, it would be really helpful.

Hi. Firstly By tooth transplant do you mean a dental implant to replace the missing teeth? If yes, then dental implants are metallic (medical grade titanium) screws placed in the jaws of the patient , so that caps can be placed on them. both functional and esthetic replacement of teeth is done using dental implants. Usually the dentist will ask for a CBCT (local CT scan of the area of interest) before doing the procedure. Placement of dental implants is done under local anaesthesia and is a minor surgical procedure. The only absolute contraindications to this procedure are: 1. Uncontrolled diabetes. 2. Chronic habit of smoking. Different companies deal in different dental implants and the cost of treatment varies with cost of dental implants and any additional procedures like bone grafting/ sinus lift/ soft tissue (gums) correction associated with placement of the implants/ caps. For particular details it would be better to visit a dentist personally with the patient for clinical exxamination. Hope this information was helpful.
