I hope your father is doing well now. As far as oral condition is concerned, he can surely have his smile back and chew or bite on whatever food he likes. Complete teeth replacement can be done by two ways: 1. Full mouth denture: approx cost Rs.15000-Rs.30000 2.Full mouth dental implants: approx cost 1 - 1.5 lac per jaw. Now, the difference is option no.1  is made of acrylic material. Patient has to visit multiple times to give impressions and measurements and finally receive a denture. This may work well for few years but with increasing age the underlying bone of jaws will resorb and denture will become loose with time. Eventually, he will have to undergo the same process again but will never be fully satisfied. But with option no.2, he can get full 32 set of teeth fixed over 4-6 dental implants which will be fixed in his jaw bone. This is costly option but stays for lifetime and moreover the new teeth feels exactly like the natural teeth in strength, looks and function. The jaw bone stays healthy and their is no discomfort. Choice is yours! :)
Next Steps
Get an OPG xray done so that dentist can analyse the bone present and suggest you options accordingly.

Your father seems to be 75+ as you are 50 years old... He would have medical issues like diabetes and high or low blood pressure or any heart disease... So implant could not be a good option then... He can go ahead with complete dentures...
Next Steps
visit your dentist for full assessment of the situation
