No other way. Or else the tooth will get damaged further.
There is no other option of avoiding or no alternative treatment.
You can take a pain killer when it's severe but if the teeth gets damaged more and more, then it will be bad in the future.
Consult a dentist in person in this regard.
There is no short cut or smaller form of. Root canal. Either you need it or you don't. Anything in between is questionable..
