Watery stools with vomiting on day 1 that are steadily reducing by day 3 is the typical course of acute viral gastroenteritis or food-related infection, and it is settling on its own as expected. The main risk at this stage is dehydration, not the infection itself; antibiotics are not needed for watery diarrhoea without fever or blood.
Next Steps
Keep sipping ORS after every loose stool along with coconut water, rice kanji and buttermilk, and eat light home food such as khichdi, curd rice, banana and toast; avoid milk, outside food, oily and spicy items and sugary drinks for a week. A probiotic and zinc for 10-14 days speed recovery. If stools do not fully settle in another 3-4 days, get a stool routine with culture, CBC and electrolytes. Feel free to consult me on Practo or at Synergy Miraj if it persists.
Health Tips
Seek medical care promptly if you pass blood or mucus, develop high fever, severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, very little urine, extreme weakness or giddiness on standing.

Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) solutions, coconut water, or clear broths continuously throughout the day. Avoid sugary drinks, alcohol, caffeine, or full-fat dairy, as these can irritate the intestines and exacerbate diarrhea.
