Hello mam...root canals can fail if all the infected nerve tissue is not removed during the treatment...so xray evaluation is very important in such a case to narrow down to the best treatment. Mostly repeat rct for the same tooth might be needed or we would check for any other adjacent tooth causing pain .
Next Steps
take an iopa
Health Tips
dont delay it only on medication

The tooth needs to be reviewed. There may be any complications due to a new infection. A periodic check up and review of your teeth whether diseased or not is mandatory from time to time. Oral hygiene standards should be maintained well.

It could be because of some pulp left in the canals, might require  a retreatment. Need to check for any other offending tooth too, especially the adjacent one's.
