Tongue discoloration
Been a year since my dad has been noticing the tongue discoloration or patches and he had approached ENT earlier. Later, he was advised to consult with the Skin department, however, the patches are still visible. Although he doesn't have any pain, we are curious to know the root cause and solution of it to get rid of those patches as the medication has not been 100% effective. During the initial days, he had partially lost the taste and started to have a spicy sensation while having homemade food even though the spice level was normal. Attached is the photo of the tongue patches of last year. It's more or less the same now. Wondering if anybody could guide us if we should consult the ENT or Skin department for further discussion or diagnosis on this. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

The tongue look a bit smooth and some fissures are also present. Is there any medication history or any prior disease ? Blood investigation needs to be done.
Next Steps
Vitamin B 12 levels, CBC and serum creatinine

I think ENT is better for loss of taste sensation. Bt i would lyk to suggest u to go for full body checkup once to find the root cause.
