Wrap the cloth around your index finger.
Gently open the baby’s mouth and softly rub the tongue in circular motions to remove any milk residue.
Wipe the gums as well if needed.
Do not use toothpaste or any cleaning agents at this stage.
How often?
Once daily.
Precautions:
Avoid over-scrubbing; newborns’ tongues are sensitive.
If you notice white patches that don’t wipe away, this could be oral thrush; consult your pediatrician.
