TMJ arthralgia
Hi I had developed pain in my left ear so consulted a ENT specialist. He examined the ear and said it's absolutely fine. He then examined by jaw and told me it's TMJ arthralgia. Pain in ear referred from TMJ. It's almost 10 days now. Pain is still there not severe but dull and constant. I am taking soft diet and hot fomentation. I took painkillers for a week. Wish to know how much time it takes for it to heal? Anything more needs to be done.

Hello Ma’am. It would be wise if you get examined by a Dentist once to confirm it’s related to TMJ. On appropriate history taking and comprehensive evaluation, we can figure out any tooth related causes ( occlusion/ wisdom tooth premature contact/ habits like clenching/ night grinding) affecting your TMJ. Once confirmed; an occlusal splint designed specifically for your case will help you. Further dental treatment if required for same can also be addressed.
Next Steps
Visit a Dentist. ( preferably a Prosthodontist/ Oral Medicine Diagnosis and Radiology expert)
Health Tips
Avoid too wide Mouth opening. Visit a Dentist and address the cause rather than symptomatic treatment with painkillers.

Good evening mam, I think you are having problem with your joint called TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint). No need to worry. It happens when this joint get overworked. This overwork happens unconsciously. Follow this instruction for few days you may get over from this problem. 1. Prevent wide opening of your mouth. (It happens when you yawn. Lock your mouth with grip nose and cheek with your finger. It will help you to prevent wide opening of your mouth). 2. Avoid side to side movement of your lower jaw. 3. Stop sleeping left or right side to prevent unnecessary movement of your lower jaw. 4. Avoid eating Hard food like Waffers. 5. Strictly follow this instruction for 15 days you may get relief.
