Tinnitus is an persistant sound in ear it's very bothersome for patient so first of all you have to get your ear checked for obstruction in canal like wax or problem of ear drums. if local examination is normal then next step would be to investigate further for inner ear which reqires few investigations

try noisy places since noise induced hearing loss is very common. avoid self cleaning or ear drops since some ear drops causes inner ear damage which could cause tinnitus per se.
