Thumb Cut- Cannot Bend Thumb
I had a cut on my thumb with Food tin cover. I went to Hospital and had it dressed. As cut was exactly on the bend and on palm side doctor advised stitching is not practical and prescribed some medicines. Wound healed in 2 weeks and I was able to bend thumb inwards partially. At about same time while turning key of my Bike something happened and I had extreme pain on my thumb and I could not bend my thumb. So I visited a Ortho Surgeon. He asked to take ultrasound. Ultrasound report states " Evidence of thickening of synoviel sheath with mild peritendinous sub cutaneous edema noted at the inter phlangeal  joint (proximal and distal phalanx) of right thumb- Features suggestive of Tenosynovitis. Rest of joints appear normal" Doctor prescribed for vitamin c tablets and Tenactive tablet. I have been taking Tenactive for 14 days and now I am just able to just bring back thumb from outward curved position to straight. How long will this take to heal. Should I do any other procedures.

You might have had a injury which has injured even your tendon and it's sheath. It is due to this injury that the pain and swelling still persists. Continue moving your thumb and medications prescribed to you. Icing should help you more.
