Tear in lateral miniscus.
Looking for second opinion. Is surgery the only option? Can't it be cured by just medicines and rest? Doc suggested the surgery. MRI report attached.

Yes if you have a lateral meniscus tear which is causing locking episodes or repeated effusions or swellings in the joint, surgery is warranted
