Tb treatment
My mother has been diagnosed with tb last month she started akt 4 treatment within 3-4 days her fever subsidised but after one week of taking att there was drug induced hepatitis due to which alternative regimen was started streptomycin levo etham for 11 days when her liver enzymes settled down isoniazid rifampicin pyrazinamide were introduced one by one but when all 4 medicine were introduced on 2nd day she was nauseous lft report of 4 th day show marked increase in alt so again s/l/e regimen was started after starting s/l/e regimen second time her fever and cough start again she also has pain in left shoulder is this normal in tb her tb treatment started 40 days back

Its a known side effect after starting of AKT medications. Streptomycin was initially the drug used for liver complicated TB. Currently amikacin drug is used instead of streptomycin as it has lower risk of side effects. Only thing duration would be longer in case of the liver protective AKT. We need to know whether its just cough or is it associated with fever and loss of weight. Of its only cough better go for an xray while continuing AKT drugs

if the lft is deranged again, her drugs need to be modified accordingly and we will have to substitute the 1st line drugs..kindly consult with all reports
