If your wife is overdue by at least two days you should get her beta HCG and Sonography scan done. If the beta HCG test shows evidence of pregnancy but the sonography scan shows an empty uterus (that means no evidence of pregnancy inside the uterus) then we suspect an ectopic pregnancy.  Further management can be discussed but first let us be sure that it is ectopic pregnancy.
