Swollen lymph node? Or something else
Lymph node that is elongated and soft when gently rubbed ( I mean the upper part)but on pressing hard with two fingers while stretching the neck on the surrounding tissue makes it appear round and hard in the neck and it feels deep ( though otherwise the lymph node is not visible or palpable at all). I'm not sure whether it is the lymph node or not.

I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat, MS ENT. When evaluating an enlarged cervical lymph node, it’s essential to consider not only its size and consistency, but also its anatomical location and whether the lymphadenopathy is primary or secondary to an underlying condition. There are multiple potential causes for cervical lymph node enlargement, which can be broadly categorized as follows: 1. Infectious Causes 2. Neoplastic Causes 3. Autoimmune and Inflammatory Causes 4. Drug-Induced Causes 5. Other (Miscellaneous) Causes A thorough clinical evaluation is crucial, including detailed history, physical examination, and relevant investigations.
Next Steps
For accurate diagnosis and appropriate management, it is strongly recommended to consult the nearest ENT specialist or hospital for a proper examination.
