  4. Swelling in feet. Be anything serious?

Swelling in feet
My father has started seeing the symptoms of swelling in one feet after keeping it hanging for a period, specially at night. Can it be anything serious ??? Refuses to go see a doctor.

Yes it’s called dependent oedema. This is becuase of venous insufficiency. Leg veins are unable to pump blood back to heart. Give her stocking to wear. Physiotherapy and investigations like ECG USG abdomen XRay chest, kidney function test. Venous Doppler for legs veins . Diabetes all to be done to rule out any systemic ailments. Check his BP. Restrict salt intake . Add banana to diet .
