Swelling and bluish discoloration in ear
My baby is 1 year 5 monyh old, weighs 10 kg. Today is fall from bed and hit her ear on the corner of the table, she cried a lot. She has bluish discoloration and swelling in the ear, i have sshared the image also. I took her to doc he gave ibugesic plus and told to apply ice packs..is it serious?
Do i need to.get her xray done?
Is the swelling in the ear permanant?

Swelling and bluish discoloration is because of injury and hematoma which will heal over time
Please keep a watch whether there is any swelling behind the ear
Inform the pediatrician accordingly

Will need antibiotics course. Add pain killer like ibugesic syrup for pai. Observe for any increase in size. Consult Pediatrician if any query. Thanks.

And ct scan is necessary if any symptoms occur.

No not permanent
Any bleeding from ear ,nose,uncounciousness for next 24 hrs or at time of fall will need CT scan of brain .so watch for it .I think Dr must have asked this and examined too. Regarding swelling of ear , medicine given is good .will disappear in 48 hrs time .

Swelling and discoloration are not permanent. And medicine and ice packs are good for this.
If there are other issues like tiredness, abnormal behaviour, bleeding from ears and nose, loss of consciousness, seizures, please get neuro imaging done .
